I led the design and development of a curriculum mapping tool that aligns outcomes to courses and provides a roadmap for a student’s path toward a degree. Curriculum Mapping is part of a broader Weave initiative to create holistic, integrated user experiences that measure, assess and improve student learning.
Users start by creating Outcomes, which are then paired with related Courses.
Dragging a Course into an Outcome aligns educational goals and begins building a Curriculum “roadmap.”
The addition of a timeline was an important differentiator. Mapping the chronological relationship from one course to the next provides context and clarity to the objectives of each individual course. Surprisingly, it was revealed during user testing that a timeline was not often used in current curriculum mapping materials and it’s inclusion in the design was extremely well-received.
